The wisdom that I glean from working with dogs is endless. To me, they’re better than any spiritual text, self help book or sangha. In a word, they are my guru. All dogs have the capacity to love unconditionally and to give with abundance. They’re humble, selfless, and they act according to what’s best for the pack. They seek to avoid conflict at all costs. They’re not motivated by material possessions, greed or lust. They have no ego!

Big boy Rufus is a 6 year old Saint Bernard who was surrendered to the shelter when his owner became ill and could no longer care for him. Here’s what Rufus had to say during his interview “I consider myself to be a large teddy Bear, and love a good belly rub and being petted. There is a lot of me to love! I tend to take it pretty easy on my walks, preferring to relax and take in the scenery. I would enjoy lying on the grass (or rolling in it), or sitting with you on a park bench watching the people go by. I will need regular grooming and a high quality dog food, once adopted, to keep me in tip top shape.
